Since October I have been holding my breath so I wouldn’t spill a secret. Now that it’s December I can finally let it out. Why it’s a secret is just because I didn’t want to give away my joy too soon. I’m sure you can understand. So what is it! :|

This Wednesday Jeremy and I are going to see the Moscow Ballet’s Great Russian Nutcracker play!!!  I’m so totally over excited that it’s not even funny. The last time I ever witnessed a play was when I was eight and in Girl Scouts.1.  I loved it but our seats were really shitty so you couldn’t really see much. This time will be different. It will be amazing. Why? Because we have kick ass seats! We’re only one row from the orchestra, meaning we’re pretty close to the stage!

Weee *twirls around* Can you see how excited I am? I love ballets. Growing up I wanted to be a ballet dancer, but alas I’m too fat and no one took me seriously anyways. Despite that I’ve always been amazed at the talent, discipline, and flexibility of these swans. Their ability to be so tranquil and captivating. It is something almost unworldly.

So yes, on Wednesday as a somewhat birthday, Yule, just go out together, gift to ourselves we are going to see the Russian Nutcracker. I’d love to take pictures and show off, but according to their website it is not permitted. That’s okay. I’ll probably be too entranced to think about it.

  1. Oddly enough it was the Nutcracker then too.

That’s great! I saw a Ballet Nutcracker play about two years ago and it was beautiful. Ballet is really captivating.

Your seats are so awesome, I hope you enjoy it, tell us all about it :)

I’m really glad that I noticed the 2 line announcement in a flyer I generally don’t even look at!

Yay! I love The Nutcracker! I’ve been thinking about seeing the Moscow Ballet perform it, but they’re showing all the way in Bethesda and I’m still holding out hope Andrew and I can get a babysitter to go see Septime Webre’s Nutcracker at the Warner Theatre.

BTW, I LOVE your Solstice tree. So adorable.

Dez

Aww thank you for the compliment on my tree. :) I wish I knew which version I saw as a little girl. :( I just know it was awesome.

Oh wow, that sounds really exciting. I’m jealous! I hope you and Jeremy have loads of fun. :)

Thank you :)

That’s awesome, Dez!! The Nutcracker is my favorite ballet. I was pretty hardcore into ballet when I was younger and was even a toy soldier in a professional production of The Nutcracker so it holds a special place in my heart.

I know you are going to have an awesome time and I can’t wait to hear all about it.

Dez

Oh wow! Way to go Anna! That sounds like an amazing opportunity to have had. :)

Yay!! That is exciting!! I am jealous!! I saw the Nutcracker when I was about 12 with my aunt (doubt it was the Russian Ballet though lol) and enjoyed it. The one thing I remember about (sadly I don’t remember much) is the wooden nutcracker was sitting in front of a grandfather clock, the *poof* it ‘changed’ into a real person! As the real nutcracker danced around someone reached around from behind the grandfather clock to take the wooden one away and dropped it! It echoed through the theater, but as far as I remember didn’t effect the performance at all, but it is a funny memory. I hope you have an amazing time!

I can’t remember everything clearly from the one I saw, but I do remember there was lots of twirling and beautiful music. :) I don’t think they had any mishaps. I bet whoever dropped the nutcracker was hella embarrassed!

Oh my goodness! That is SO cool! I would be totally excited too and I am super jealous!! I bet it will be so magical and wonderful and I can’t wait to hear all about it!

Hello! My name is Dez and I just happen to be your not so average twenty-three year old gamer geek girl. I'm married to an equally geeky husband, Jeremy.

I'm also a mother who's trying to find out who she is while not losing herself completely in motherhood. A lover of video games (obviously), not blowing up my kitchen in an attempt to be a chef, and a pretend photographer. Learn more about me!
