Easter was quite important to me this year, mostly because it was the first actual holiday that Vincent would participate in (St. Patrick’s Day doesn’t count) and I wanted it to be special. Then again if you know me you know that I like to make all of our holidays special in that kiddy tradition of special gifts, chocolates, or baskets depending on what the holiday traditionally requires.
Our first Easter together as a family didn’t go according to plan but turned out great in the end. Originally we had planned to host Easter dinner at our house with my Dad, Sister, Brother and his girlfriend attending. My Dad likes to do dinners at 2p.m. for some crazy reason, he’s always been that way, so by hosting it ourselves we could have dinner at a normal sane time around 5:30p.m. However two days before Easter Sunday Jeremy decided that he was going to stay up nights with Vincent who had suddenly become a nightstalker again. So of course I had to call everyone and cancel Easter.
His plan lasted a day due to other plans that we had on Saturday so Sunday we called Dad to see what he was doing for Easter and went over there for Easter dinner. The first words out of my mouth when I saw my Brother and his girlfriend sitting at the table were, “Well I feel like an asshole.”
Luckily everyone understood, or at least I hope they did. If not oh well. EASTER DINNER STILL HAPPENED! Just not the way we wanted it to. Dad got his wish of a 2p.m. dinner, except his was more like 3p.m. because he decided he was going to feed Vincent his first holiday dinner. When we got home Jeremy was surprised to see that the Easter bunny made an appearance and left him and Vincent a basket full of goodies!
Our first holiday was and made me realize that things don’t always go according to plan. Now, check out Vincent’s awesomesauce shirt that Cori designed for me. It’s awesome and was the perfect touch for our first Easter together.
My brain is currently having trouble grasping the concept that today, March 20th, would have been my due date. That I was supposed to spend the last three weeks without Vincent in our lives. I can’t imagine having to have spent the last three weeks any differently than how we have. Life is amazing and mine is no different. <3
Why has it been so quiet around here?! Oh I know!
Our little Luma, Vincent Mathias arrived safe and sound on February 29th, 2012 at 6:40p.m.
It’s taken me nearly two weeks to post but really you can’t fault me for not wanting to be on the computer when I have this adorable little guy to take care of. I do plan to eventually get a birth story up as well as a few other blog posts that will be severely past their due date about how things are, how things went, the jaundice scare, etc once I finally decide to spend more than a half hour on the computer.
Until then I’m going to enjoy watching this little guy grow and listen to his Goomba grunts.
